Farmers Using Nuclear Science to Improve Water Use Efficiency
Combined water-saving and nuclear techniques are helping to improve farmers’ productivity and income in Namibia. With support from the IAEA and FAO, farmers are using small-scale drip irrigation, a technology that utilises nuclear techniques to measure moisture levels, to precisely water their fields. This method has significantly increased water use efficiency and crop yields. Farmers have reported substantial improvements in crop production and income due to this technology.
